SS, Paris — w Sadar Bahar.

Proper buzz at Sunday Sunday in Paris — Resident Advisor pick too! Closing after the absolute legend Sadar Bahar wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, but the vibe turned out magic. A really special night.

Resident Advisor put this one down as a weekend pick, and I ended up closing after the absolute legend, Sadar Bahar. I mean, gigs where I get to open or close for artists I’ve admired forever don’t come around every weekend. But let’s be real—following Sadar, that’s difficult to grasp.
Getting invited back to Sunday Sunday in Paris was already a pleasure. It’s such a gorgeous gathering, and seeing our event featured as RA recommendation was ace. When I found out who the headliner was, I thought I’d be warming up for him—obviously. Turns out I was closing after him, nerves kicked in, I kept asking myself “What the hell am I going to play right after?”
I opened the event with a disco-house set on the upper deck—bit chilly up there, but the sun did its thing warming up nicely. This set went down pretty well, but my head was fully locked on Sadar’s set. He was dropping records with so much groove, proper deep cuts, layers upon layers of rhythm, crazy crazy sounds. Watching him play, with those earrings and his Parisian-style hat, man I was hypnotised—his energy just radiates good vibes.

Then came my turn. I had No clue how to follow that funky madness. There was no way to match his disco richness, so I had to deconstruct. The energy and ease of the dancers had to be faded into my music language, weave their mood into me without killing the vibe. Super cool to experience this.
Didn’t wanna do that awkward “Uh, it’s my turn now” thing, but thankfully, the organizers handled it. He was the absolute humblest, inviting me up with a big hug and a laugh. I couldn’t feel happier. He stayed for few min, I had cool track on, he vibed along—no pressure (sure!)…tried to keep it in order.

As my set evolved people stayed and kept dancing, I started to pull out some energy out of them. I felt now really comfortable. I had the dancers very well hooked by then, and thought a well deserved closing would be to fantastic to always remember. So Moby was the choice and all love was given from all to all. Check the footage below, I believe is one closing i’ll never forget… Encore track was “When The Sky Was Pink”. Everyone stood there, locked in trance until the very last tail of the fade out white noise.

A big pleasure in every possible way, pure connection. What a night, Thanks Sunday Sunday, QesaDJ and Robinson JMdL !
